Best Practice for Picking Good Tags
When using Konveio’s AI tools for categorizing comments during a public review, selecting the right tags is crucial for optimal organization and analysis. Here are some guidelines to ensure your tags are effective:
- Use Single-Word Tags When Possible: Generally, single-word tags are more effective. They are straightforward and can easily match key terms within comments. Examples include "budget," "safety," or "parking."
- Avoid Broad and Vague Terms: Tags that are too general, like “people” or “things,” are less useful because they could apply to almost any comment. These broad terms make it harder for the AI to categorize comments meaningfully.
- Utilize Defined Concepts and Specific Names: If you need to use multi-word tags, ensure they represent well-defined concepts or specific names. Terms like “Floor Area Ratio,” “Climate Change,” or names of specific streets and places are good examples. These tags help in categorizing comments pertaining to specific topics or locations.
- Pick tags, then refine: Add your initial set of tags before the consultation starts and review the list after the first comments come in. Add or change tags as you see fit in the early stages to avoid larger rework later on.
- Coming soon: We’re in the process of building an AI tool that provides suggestions based on your PDF, to be released in the spring of 2024. Stay tuned!
Other Considerations
While our AI tools are designed to streamline the categorization process, there are important considerations to keep in mind:
- Expect Initial Over-Tagging: The AI tends to err on the side of applying too many tags rather than too few. Consider this initial tagging as a first pass. It’s essential to have a team member review and fine-tune the selections for accuracy and relevance.
- Contextual Limitations: Remember that many comments processed through Konveio are in the context of a specific document. This means the AI might not fully grasp or extract bigger conclusions, such as overall support or opposition to the document. Human oversight is needed to interpret these broader sentiments accurately.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure a more effective and efficient use of Konveio’s AI tagging capabilities, leading to better organization and analysis of public review comments.
